2014 is the Centennial of the outbreak of WW1. CTC-Heart Of England is hosting a special film night as part of the Meriden Cycling Rally and Centennial Memorial weekend.
Admission includes a complimentary drink on arrival followed by a mini fish and chip supper before settling down to watch A Day Out by Alan Bennett. Made for the BBC in 1972 this film is set in 1911 and is about a group of emotionally repressed men who turn a Sunday Cycle Ride into a formal occasion.
The main film will be followed by a showing of the short British Transport film made in 1955 CTC Cyclists' Special - a train is hired in London to take riders to Rugby
There will also be a host of cycling memorabilia on display in the Village Hall for guests to browse around and reminisce.
