Who are we? A group of cyclists from S Birmingham, Warwickshire, Worcestershire area that enjoys riding together.
What do we do? Rides on Sundays and Wednesdays every week, together with some weekends and holidays abroad. How are the rides organised? Each ride is led by the "Captain" for the day, who has planned the route to take into account the variable weather, mechanical issues and to make sure we get to the lunch stop at the right time - allowing the other riders not to have to think where they are going!!
We usually have 10-15 riders on a run, at a 10-12 mph average speed, which is quite leisurely. The rides have breaks for 11s, for lunch (usually sandwiches on Sundays and a pub lunch on Wednesdays), and 3s. The distance covered is about 40 miles in winter and 60 in summer, as four stages of 60 - 90 minutes. There is no separate CTC-Heart of England membership fee but we do collect a small ride contribution (currently 20p) to cover costs, as well as an annual contribution for our bi-monthly magazine, The Connecting Link.
Sunday rides are between 40 & 60 miles - every week throughout the year.
- Wednesday rides - every week throughout the year - alternating with a 40 mile ride or a meet for coffee and (sometimes) a shorter ride.
Both rides are at a pace that will be appropriate to the group, the rides follow quiet lanes through the countryside and are suitable for most types of bicycle.
